So sad that I have to be married or rich or a student or a full time employee to even be considered by the consulate. The application form was detailed. I put in my socials even. That would've shown my entire lifestyle. I' ve been traveling but that doesn't matter lol.

The point of an interview is to supplement the application form. Fill in the gaps as you will. They asked me only 3 things: 1. Where are you going & are you going alone? 2. Which countries have you been? 3. What's your job? With no real room to expound or show documents.

Tbh the real kicker is when they give you that blue slip after a few minutes and tell you "Sorry you do not qualify at this time, feel free to apply again" like I didn't just toss $185*?

To put it into perspective, Japan visa is $30 max. Canada is $100. They both do not have interviews. If you are rejected or approved, you will know from the website or agency. And they have much more to offer than the US.

I can't stress how scummy the process is. They slot you 30 minutes but an average interview is only 5 minutes long. The consuls don't even use 20% of that time??

Trump definitely made it close to impossible to visit unless you have certain privileged circumstances. Why can't you just receive documents and assess that? Why waste people's time with scam interviews? Other countries do that. And their visa fees are more affordable.

Some people fly in from provinces to be interviewed. $185 atop plane/bus tickets and hotel bookings are over minimum wage in our country.

Quick vent because it needs to be talked about. I have decent travel history, decent savings, a decent job, but they just automatically assumed self-employed Filipinos like me will be illegal immigrants. They didn't care to check my supporting documents either .
